Namaskaru! (Na-muh-ska-roo)

Namaste (Namas + te) is derived from Sanskrit and is a combination of the word Namas which means bowing and the word Te which means to you.

Namaste = I bow to you

Namaskar, on the other hand, is made up of the root words Namas and Kara where Namas = bowing and Kara = doing

Namaskar = I am doing the act of bowing

Namaste and Namaskar can be used interchangeably to greet somebody you meet, in the same way you say Hello, Hi, Greetings.

In Konkani, the word namaskar is slightly transformed to say Namaskaru!

Note: Some people may accompany "Namaste," "Namaskar," or "Namaskaru" with a bowing gesture. This involves bringing their palms together in a prayer-like position 🙏🏻 and slightly bowing their heads.
